The RUSI Nairobi office is the base for RUSI fieldwork in Sub-Saharan Africa. Staff and consultants in the office offer a variety of insights and research and implementation expertise on preventing/countering violent extremism, radicalisation, threat analysis, policing, at-risk youth mentorship, conflict in the Horn of Africa, among others.
The office currently manages the European Commission project, Strengthening Resilience to Violent Extremism II (STRIVE II) in the Horn of Africa, and is a partner on the Department for international Development funded Reducing Insecurity and Violent Extremism in the Northern and Coastal Regions of Kenya (REINVENT).
The overall objective of STRIVE II is to strengthen resilience to extremism and violence in Kenya in coordination with local and international partners. REINVENT is a community security and police reformprogramme for which RUSI manages the countering violent extremism workstream. The REINVENT programme is led by TetraTech, in partnership with the Danish Demining Group and RUSI.
