Dr Dina Mansour-Ille

Dina Mansour-Ille holds a PhD in Politics with a focus on political violence, conflict and social movements. For over 10 years, she has worked as a researcher within different institutional settings both in the UK and abroad. She joined RUSI as a Senior Research Editor after close to 4 years at the Overseas Development Institute (ODI), where she worked as a researcher and served as a member of ODI’s Research Ethics Committee. She is an expert on the Middle East and North Africa region and her main research areas of expertise are political violence, radicalisation and violent extremism, fragility, conflict and migration. At ODI, she was the lead on the research agenda on technology, state-society relations and peacebuilding.
Her research has been published in several renowned international peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Immigrant and Refugee Studies, the Economics of Peace and Security Journal, the International Social Science Journal and Forced Migration Review. She also regularly designed and delivered courses and trainings to students of diverse academic and professional backgrounds. A former diplomat, Dina has also worked in public policy and diplomacy.
Since 2014, she has been an Editor-in-Chief of the Studies in Ethnicity and Nationalism (SEN) – an international peer-reviewed journal published by Wiley and the Association for the Studies in Ethnicity and Nationalism (ASEN) currently based at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
Dina also holds an MA in International Human Rights Law and is trilingual (English, Arabic and German).
