Claudia Wallner

Claudia Wallner is a Research Fellow and Associate in RUSI’s Terrorism and Conflict research group. Her research focuses on preventing and countering violent extremism (P/CVE), including a multi-year project assessing the evidence base for P/CVE interventions in different thematic areas, as well as contributions to EU-funded P/CVE training and the EU Radicalisation Awareness Network (RAN) Policy Support. Aside from her focus on P/CVE, Claudia is also conducting research on radicalisation and recruitment into violent extremism, with a particular focus on far-right extremism and terrorism.

Prior to joining the institute in 2018, Claudia worked as a Research Assistant for the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organised Crime and interned with Chatham House, the Austrian Embassy in London, UNODC and the OSCE. Claudia holds an MA (Distinction) in Conflict, Security and Development from King’s College London, where her dissertation examined the involvement of non-state armed groups in the Middle East in drug trafficking and the implications of this involvement for conflict resolution. She also holds an MSc in Countering Organised Crime and Terrorism from University College London (UCL), where her dissertation explored the role of masculinity in far-right extremism.
